Our aims and objectives focus on providing 160 really poor
children between the age of 1 – 5 with safety and shelter from
Monday – Friday and on week-ends if necessary. Some of our children
have been abandoned and live in foster care, some have been orphaned
and live in foster care and some are HIV positive – but they all
come from very poor families.
Our objectives therefore are as follows:
- 24 Hour Day Care Centre
- Child nutrition
- Child clothing
- Child education
- Poverty Alleviation – Vegetable Gardening
- Bakery
- HIV/Aids Orphans
Our needs – Short Term
- The children are not properly nourished
- The children have nowhere to take a nap in the afternoons
- The children do not have warm clothing for the winter
- The children do not have any educational equipment in the form
of desks, chairs, blackboards and jungle gyms
- The kitchen has no stove, fridge, deep freeze or washing up
facility
Our needs – Long Term
The erection of a properly resourced crèche on the land already
allocated within the grounds of the Doornkop Development Centre.
Worth noting:
- that the Doornkop Development has been named as a “Minister’s
Preferential Project”.
